Obstetrics and Gynecology
The Department of Obstetrics and Gynecology provides treatment for women with complicated and high risk pregnancies as well as those with complex gynecologic problems and gynecologic malignancies. It also provides state of the art treatment for infertile couples where advanced reproductAive technology is needed. In this process, clinical research is done to optimize patient care and to ensure staff development. The department consists of three sections: (1) Section of Perinatology, (2) Section of Reproductive Medicine and (3) Section of Gynecologic Oncology.
Expertise
The Section of Perinatology, deals with a variety of high risk mothers suffering from different medical illnesses complicating their pregnancies. In addition, a large volume of work is related to fetal abnormalities due to genetic disorders, multifactorial inheritance, infections and others. The department is the leader in the area of iso-immunization in pregnancy and a large number of intrauterine transfusions are performed annually for those cases. Furthermore, the department performs amniocentesis, cordocentesis, chorionic villus sampling and in-utero shunting procedures.
The IVF Unit, deals mainly with difficult infertility cases like severe male factor infertility that need special male procedures involving reproductive endocrinologists, urologists and embryologists. It offers pre-implantation genetic diagnosis for patients with certain genetic disorders referred from all over the Kingdom.
The unit of gynecologic oncology deals with all types of gynecologic malignancies and has experts in the field of minimally invasive and radical gynecologic surgeries. A multidisciplinary team approach is adopted for the management of women with gynecologic cancers.

- All employees will be eligible for 7 days leave with pay, if travelling and 3 days if in the Kingdom

Sick Leave
In the event of on-work related disability, injury or illness:
- An employee shall be granted full pay for a maximum of 30 calendar days and 75 % of full pay for an additional 60 calendar days in each service year.
- Any sickness in excess of two (2) days shall require an acceptable medical verification of illness, otherwise such absence will be treated as leave without pay.
Contracts
Contracts of one or two year duration will be considered and an annual bonus equivalent to one month salary is paid at the end of a two-year contract and for every subsequent year spent at the hospital thereafter. Also, nursing staff are entitled to an additional sum equivalent to one month salary at the end of a two year contract (this sum known as severance pay is only paid out when you leave the Hospital). Currently the Hospital is offering a sign on bonus to certain positions.
Relocation Allowance
As an International employee of the King Faisal Specialist Hospital & Research Centre a generous relocation allowance will be offered to you upon both initial hire and repatriation (some restrictions apply). The amount of this relocation allowance depends upon your point of origin and your contract status.
Service Bonuses
The King Faisal Specialist Hospital & Research Centre recognizes the contributions of its staff and the benefits associated with stability in the workforce. For this reason, we offer generous service bonuses equal to one month's salary upon completion of each contract year, beginning after the second contract year.
Severance Pay
As an International employee of King Faisal Specialist Hospital & Research Centre you are entitled to receive severance pay upon completion of your contract and subsequent repatriation. This is a one-time payment made upon your final departure from the Hospital and is accrued throughout your tenure within the Hospital. Severance pay accrues at a rate of 15 days pay for each of your first four years and 30 days pay for the fifth and subsequent years.
Airline Tickets
As an International employee of the King Faisal Specialist Hospital & Research Centre, you will be entitled to both Initial Hire and Repatriation tickets to and from your point of origin. In addition, each year you will be entitled to a free round-trip annual leave ticket to your point of origin. Leave Time
As an employee at the King Faisal Specialist Hospital & Research Centre, you are entitled to receive 30 days annual leave and a minimum of 20 days holiday per year for a total of 50 vacation days per year! This allows ample opportunity to take extended trips to your home country or to see the world and experience international travel at its best. The Annual Leave (accrued) maybe taken at anytime after three months depending on the department's scheduled leave plan.
Free Hospital Housing
As an International employee of the King Faisal Specialist Hospital & Research Centre, you are entitled to receive either free Hospital housing or a housing allowance (some restrictions apply). All utilities are paid by the hospital with the exception of your personal telephone calls, cable TV and internet access in the home.
Medical and Dental Treatment
As an international employee of the King Faisal Specialist Hospital & Research Centre you are entitled to Medical Care through the Family Medicine Department. Dental Treatment is on an emergency basis only for the first year, with basic dental care provided thereafter. Basic dental care is that which is necessary to maintain good oral health, but does not include such procedures as crowns, bridges, partial or full dentures, or orthodontics.
Recreational Facilities
The King Faisal Specialist Hospital & Research Centre has a number of recreational facilities open to you, including swimming pools, tennis courts, a bowling alley and amenities centre. In addition, the Employee Social Club & Recreation Services offer a number of recreational courses, exercise programs and trips and a variety of other benefits to the employees.
Further education opportunities
As well as offering an excellent orientation, the Nursing Staff at KFSH&RC have many opportunities to further their education. There are a number of in-house courses and speciality certifications run on an annual basis as well as the provision of continuous inservice training across all nursing units and programs. In addition, for those nurses interested in undertaking a Masters Degree they can do so via distance learning through Monash University (Australia). Several of the Nursing Education staff are lecturers for the Monash University off-campus Masters Degree programs.
For those nurses interested in updating their knowledge, there is unlimited access to the hospital's library where there is a full range of international nursing journals and textbooks available. In addition, all nursing employees have access to the computer lab (with free internet access) in Nursing Education and Research for study purposes. The single female accommodation complexes also have internet facilities which are free and available 24 hours/7 days a week, for research or personal purposes.
In addition to the above, there are also ongoing academic conferences held at KFSH&RC with many leading international specialists as the key note speakers. They are also able to link up to other international conferences via advanced teleconferencing facilities. Furthermore, the Nursing staff regularly give lectures via teleconferences to other hospitals throughout the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia.
Quality Systems
From an administration perspective, KFSH&RC was awarded JCAI accreditation in November 2000 and has maintained this accreditation ever since. In 2002, the ICIS (Integrated Clinical Information System) was implemented. This system allows staff, based on security access privileges, the ability to view patient' electronic medical records in real time. All staff is educated on this system on commencing employment and on site help is available twenty four hours a day through the use of unit resource staff and IT technical support staff. Other technical advances include the introduction of the Pyxis Med-Station system. This is a pharmaceutical delivery system that is currently being introduced onto all nursing units. It is a state-of-the-art automated medication management system that provides unparalleled protection for patients and staff from a safety perspective. Greater efficiencies in the use of medication stock are expected through the use of this system.
