Our Client NHS Foundation Trust is a modern teaching hospital based in a vibrant and cosmopolitan part of London. The Trust has a real commitment to providing excellence in maternity care and to support this have made significant investment in both midwifery and medical staffing within the maternity unit enabling us to recruit further midwifery staff at this time.

We pride ourselves in the selection of services we offer women and their families. We currently deliver around 4800 babies each year and this is only possible through the fabulous team of midwives who work in close collaboration with the multi-disciplinary team. The women who choose to use our services come from diverse social, cultural and economic backgrounds. As a member of our midwifery team, you will have the opportunity to work in a variety of clinical settings including the community and hospital, and be able to support women and their families through their childbirth experience. Opportunities are also available for you to develop specialist skills in our Recovery/High Dependency Unit unit and Maternity Day Assessment Unit.

Some women require the use of our well developed specialist services, and to support this we have close links with specialist services throughout London. We support all midwives through a programme of orientation specifically designed to meet your individual needs which is followed up with your team leader as you progress.

We also have a Lead Midwife for Professional Development to aid you in your professional development throughout your career. We have a dedicated team of Midwifery Supervisors' with a variety of unique perspectives on the profession of midwifery. We run a positively evaluated group supervision system for newly qualified midwives which you can join. The Trust offers a range of flexible working options together with family friendly policies to enable you to balance home and work life more effectively.

We also have a dedicated Child Care Co-ordinator to help support you with local Child Care provision, holiday play schemes and childcare vouchers. We offer help with accommodation, both on-site and through the key worker Housing Scheme. Maternity Services

• Births - 4800 p.a.
• 12 Delivery rooms, two water birthing pools and a dedicated Birthing Unit
• 2 dedicated operating theatres
• 2 antenatal / postnatal wards

• High Risk Midwifery Team with services linked to the Brompton Hospital
• Level 3 Neonatal Unit - 23 cots caring for about 400 babies a year

Travel to Work

An advance of salary for a season ticket loan, interest free, is available to ease the cost of travel by public transport. Car parking permits are available by application to the Directorate Managers. Car parking space unfortunately is limited. There are 2 car parks, one in the basement of the hospital and one close by.

Communication

The Chief Executive holds open meetings for staff each month, which are supplemented by a monthly staff newspaper, 'Trust News', providing news, views and features on developments across the Trust.

Family Friendly Policies

The Trust is committed to helping staff balance the demands of work and family and, as such, has adopted a range of family friendly policies. These include occupational maternity pay and leave, paternity, carer and adoption leave, job share and career breaks.

Personnel Effectiveness Centre (PEC)

The Trust also subscribes to a nationwide independent advice and counselling service PEC. All employees are able to access free of charge, in the strictest confidence, on a range of matters including: working related issues and personal problems.

We subscribe to Personnel Effectiveness Centre, an independent, nationwide advice and counselling service which provides working parents with details and advice on a wide range of childcare and parenting options.

Study Leave

Occupational Health

The Occupational Health Service promotes the health of all staff and advises on health in the workplace, on a confidential basis. Services include aromatherapy and a counselling and stress management service. We also have a Back Care Adviser who provides mandatory back care training.
